Puppy Classes for Better Behavior
When you first bring a new puppy into your home, you may be tempted to simply let them do as they wish. A puppy’s antics are so cute that you probably don’t stop to think about how a little bad behavior can escalate into more serious problems down the road. The earlier you start training your puppy, the easier it will be for both of you as they age. If you want to turn your puppy into a “good dog,” it’s important to provide them with some structure, and teach them how to properly behave at an early age.
Basic Puppy Training
At Eastside Animal Hospital, we’re happy to provide our clients with puppy kindergarten classes. Puppy kindergarten is designed for puppies that are less than 6 months old. It’s an excellent first step in training the new addition to your family.
Puppies often display certain unfavorable behaviors, such as excessive barking, nipping, pulling on their leash, and eliminating in unapproved areas. Puppy training is designed to address these issues and more. In our puppy kindergarten classes, you and your pet can learn about:
- Leash training
- Basic commands
- Crate training
- …and more
In addition to learning about puppy training, you and your pet will also have the opportunity to meet other puppies and their owners. Exposure to a wide variety of people, pets, and situations at an early age will help your puppy develop the confidence they’ll need to be more open to new experiences later in life.
Our Puppy Training Methods
All of our puppy training is conducted with the use of positive reinforcement. We believe that yelling at a puppy or punishing them with physical harm disrupts the bond between pet and owner. If you want your puppy to learn to trust you and be obedient, you need to build up your connection through positive reinforcement. We’ll be happy to show you how to use this powerful tool to your advantage during our puppy classes.
